TCM International Institute Receives Accreditation
The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools voted Jan. 28 to grant accreditation to TCM International Institute. The accreditation status runs through 2012.
TCMII, located near Vienna, Austria, is the first, and so far, only program that works totally outside the United States to receive such accreditation. The achievement is the culmination of eight years of work by faculty and staff.
Dr. Tony Twist, president, said, “Accreditation status is significant in that it will provide disenfranchised Christian leaders in Eastern Europe and central Asia more meaningful credentials in reaching their own countries, cultures, and churches for Christ. “
The campus of TCMII is located at Haus Edelweiss and has a student enrollment of 767. TCMII offers one certificate and two graduate degree programs (MA and MDiv). The U.S. offices are located in Indianapolis, Indiana.
TCM was established in 1957 as a church-planting organization in Toronto, Canada. In 1963 the focus expanded to providing training and other assistance to Christians in communist-controlled Eastern Europe. The Institute for Biblical Studies, later changed to TCMI Institute, was founded in 1991 as a leadership training institution following vast political changes in Eastern Europe.
